Hey everyone! Another stand alone again this week. One more after this before our hiatus and a new series! This one was really fun to write and I hope that you can enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Let me know your comments in the thoughts below! So, without further ado…
The Writer Bucketlist
Every writer has a bucklist. It can include lots of writing and reading related things you would like to someday do. For some writers it includes places they want to go, writing goals they want to accomplish, and possibly things they want to read. Some writers have so many things in each category that they might be part of separate lists but either way writer’s often have an unspoken bucketlist of things they want to do or accomplish.
Every writer’s bucketlist is personal to them, their experiences, the things they enjoy, or places they’ve read about. This post is another fun post – not to advice you on what should or shouldn’t be on your bucketlist but rather to tell you what is on my bucketlist to maybe get your writer brain rolling on some fun writer bucketlist ideas of your own.
Visit Hay-On-Wye, Wales
One of the firs things on my writers bucketlistis to visit Hay-On-Wye in Wales. Hay-On-Wye is known as the village of books. Most streets have bookstores on every corner and sometimes against walls. There are also many normal bookstores in a large majority of the shop buildings on the high street. This has been on my bucketlist since way back in 2017 whenI read a news article about Hay-On-Wye and I researched it and learned more about it. Below are some pictures of Hay-On-Wye.
Visit the Trinity College Library
This is another visiting bucket list that was on my list. I have accomplished this one but I included it on the list because eit is one of the many things on my list that I have actually managed to accomplish in my life. This was one of the most amazing things I’ve done on my bucketlist so far because not only did I see an amazing and massive library but I also got to see the Book of Kells which was out on display at the time I was there which has also always been on my writers bucketlist.
Writing TBR
As most writers and readers will know there is always a To Be Read list that will never end, no matter how fast you read or how many you read. I also have a special TBR list for books about writing that I include on my Writer Bucketlist. These books don’t get crossed off as often as a TBR full of fictional novels but it also doesn’t get added to as often either so it remains a permanent fixture on my bucketlist. Currenlty my writing TBR includes “No Plot? No Problem!” and “Character and Viewpoint” from the Elements of Fiction Writing series. It’s always a fun list to use when I want more inspiration and advice on writing.
Writing Goals
This isn’t one specific thing on my writer bucketlist but my writer bucketlist contains many actual writing goals (of course) from small things like finish chapter 2 of book 2 to the big one of Get Published. Whether you have big writing goals or small writing goals a writers bucketlist is usually full of small and large writing goals that are fun and easy to plan for, reach for, and accomplish.
Those are just some of the general things that I have on my writer bucketlist. There are so many other things, categories, and goals that you can add to your own writer bucketlist. Some writers write their bucketlist down and put it somewhere they can see, or keep an ongoing list on their fun. Some writers, like me separate their lists into separate categories and keep them in different places. Others contain these lists all in their heads. (But with all the worlds and stories up there I don’t know where they keep them). Either way, let me know down below in the comments if there is anything on your writer bucketlist you are really looking forward to doing or how you keep your writer bucketlist.
