Hey everyone! I’m here with todays last blog post for the stand-alones. Next week we’ll be starting with the first update of the new series. I am so excited for you to read it! This week’s post is a little bit shorter than usual because it’s just a simple letter. I hope that you like it and share it. Please do not copy it and share it on other platforms. So, without further ado,
A Letter From Me To You
This week’s post is a little bit unique. I read somewhere while looking for interesting ideas for blog posts that someday you should write a letter from yourself to all of your friends, fans, and followers. I read this several years ago, near the beginning of writing this blog and I thought to myself that it would be a fun post to write if I ever got around to it. I set a goal to still be writing my blog in several years and that if I was, I should write this letter. I’ve been thinking about writing this post for a while, but I began writing my posts in series a few years ago and since then haven’t found a series that this letter fit into.
Just this year I began writing these stand-alone posts between series to give me time to plan a more coherent and cohesive series of posts to make the process of writing them easier on myself. As I was coming up with topics for the August stand alone posts I stumbled upon this idea written in the margins of some of my blog notes from back in the beginning and I decided to write this letter. Who knows, maybe in a few years I’ll write another one.
For my family, friends, followers, and fans,
The first thing I want to say to you all is thank you. I know that I do all the writing, plotting, and planning but a lot of the creativity, ideas, and editing come from my family, friends, followers, and fans. You’re always there for me when I needed support in writing, when I needed beta readers, when I needed someone to edit a part of the story, or even when I just needed someone to verbally slap me in the face and tell me that a certain part of the story wasn’t going to work, and I just needed to get rid of it all ready.
I’ve had a lot of help over the years, not just for writing this blog (which has been the most consistent part of my writing process in the last half decade) but also for writing all of my books, short stories, and poems. Having people there to lift up my writing and tell me it’s amazing when I didn’t think it was, kept me writing all these years because all I needed sometimes was a little push.
Thank you for always being capable of helpful and kind criticism to help me turn in the right direction and know when an idea just wasn’t good. This has saved me a lot of time, keeping me from spending days, weeks, months, or even years, writing something that was going to be a bad idea anyway. So, thank you for supporting me enough to tell me no when I was being dumb.
I’m grateful for all the sharing and reading you have done for me to help me to spread this blog further than I thought it would go. I’m excited to see how it grows in the future and hopefully to help me one day become published. I appreciate all the reads I get, the reminders I receive to post on social media from people who wonder if I’ve updated that week, and all the kind hearts or likes I receive.
Thank you so much for being there with me on this journey and I hope that you can stay there with me as the journey continues. Thank you so much. And don’t forget,
Get Up, Get Writing, and Get Published. See you next week with a new series.
Love,
J.M. Larsen
