Constant State of Learning

So while trying to come up with ideas for this blog post I realized that there are so many things to write about. I've never done a blog before and everyone does theirs differently and so you can't really learn how to write a blog by watching everyone else. There are lots of things that lots of different people don't know how to do. For example my friend knows how to play lacrosse. I, on the other hand, do not but I do know how to knit a hat. There are so many things about writing that I didn't learn from sitting at home and scribbling in my notebook. I didn't know that usually people refer to their Main Character as an MC or and FMC or an MMC (Female Main Character and Male Main Character). I didn't know the difference between a plotter and a pantser. There are always things that people can still learn.

So my post of the day is a post of encouragement.

Get yourself out into the world. The process of being a writer is very lonely. We sit around by ourselves for hours on end with our imaginary friends. Even if you never leave your room, learning about others and reading others writing on social writing sites is also a wonderful idea. At the bottom of my page I have pictures with hyperlinks to my writing site accounts. There are so many different things you can do. Learn to create new things. I spent a while going through a bookbinding phase. I spent about a year learning how to bind a book and make leaflets. I learned the difference between a glued notebook spine and a sewed spine. I never would have found out about the bullet journal if I hadn't gone through a time when I wanted to find a perfect way to organize myself. I never would have learned the best way for me to write if I hadn't looked at the different ways that people plotted their novels and tried every single one of them. There are so many different things that you can learn.

Your only job is to get out there and learn them and find a way to make those new skills useful.

Sorry that this post was so scatterbrained and short. I hope to write a better one next week.

Don't forget to subscribe.
